Who knew folding clothes could be fun?

When I was in college, my mom sent me a video of this lady speed-folding t-shirts and knew that I would love it. She knows me so well! Ah, it's just such a lovely feeling to have soft, yet crisply folded, t-shirts.

I think I found my new thing? No, not shirt folding, though I do enjoy me a nice cotton tuckin' time. I love doing these videos. I love so many things, that my struggle has always been that I want to do ALL the things, knowing that is just not possible. With these videos, I am able to teach the everyday life things I love!

I transformed a basic day look into a night glam look. I'd say it worked alright this time.

I, once again, had a stinking blast doing this video. This time, I had a bit more success. I took the basic day look that I did earlier in the day and turned it into a night look. This is HEAVY makeup. I saw a video once where the artist said people should use makeup to enhance their features rather than slather loads of foundation and other gunk on, covering the person beneath. In this video, I definitely slathered the gunk. I think makeup is just fun. When I go out now (not literally now, with COVID-19 quarantining now, but this point in my life), I prefer to skip the foundation altogether because my skin is pretty clear. You could still create this look without it, too.

My face is already washed, and I'm ready to go again...but on a different day because this lady is tired.

I've had some interesting input so far on what kind of look I should next.

Happy quarantining, my friends!

On to the next adventure!

I tried to do a basic makeup tutorial. It kind of worked.

Sort of. 😂

I tried something new today.

Well, my goodness. I tried something new today. I tried to make a quick makeup tutorial. I definitely made a makeup tutorial, but it was definitely not quick. Midway through, I tried a new liquid eyeliner. That did not work well. It ended up being too much product, so I had to start over. The bonus was that I was able to show how my microfiber cloths work. Overall, I had a blast making this video and look forward to doing another!

Until next time, my friends.

Yes, I Knit.

Those who know me know that one of my favorite activities is knitting.

I will bring it to work for my breaks or lunch. I will take my knitting to friends' houses. Yep, I bring it out to the bars with us as well.

It took a long time for some people around whom I would knit regularly to realize that I was, in fact, paying attention to the conversation. I knit during movies (at home, not in the theater) so I can feel like I'm being productive while I'm sitting there enjoying myself for a couple hours. Yes, I know, this is such a healthy practice (please note the sarcasm). In college, I would knit during discussion groups and during lectures (while still taking some pretty nerdalicious notes).

To the first party I attended where I was legal to enjoy adult beverages, I took my knitting. I sat there and worked on a hat.

Knitting became my comfort blanket over time. My sister gives me endless, good-hearted grief over my practice, and this may be slightly deserved. I did, after all, ask our then-2-year-old nephew if he wanted to watch me knit instead of watching TV. He said, "No!" Smart kid. We crack up over that instance quite often.

Regardless of the "nerdiness" of my hobby, it makes me happy. It has forced me to practice perseverance because sometimes that hat doesn't turn out just right, so I have to start over completely.

It really doesn't matter what you choose to do for joy, as long as you keep doing it. I'm just getting in practice for when I'm as old on the outside as I am on the inside. I'll be a professional grandmother who hasn't been cold in years.

Join me on the happiness trail. Keep doing what you do.

A Twist In My Story

Holy Cow! Life can throw so many wonderful surprises.

Over the years, RAlexander Photography morphed into just "Riley Cameron." I started with graphic design, ran out of photographs to edit, then added photography. One day, my mother asked me to design her website. Guess what I added after learning that I loved doing that as well? You guessed it. I can no list all the things I do if I don't want it to become as long as my legal name. Riley Cameron it is.

I have had thought of starting a blog for forever. I have so many photos other than photos of people that I have been asked to share and that I have wanted to share and make it available for purchase. Why can't I do it all? Well, I can. And now, I can do it all in one place.

I kind of fell off the planet for social media because, well, let's face it: Facebook isn't necessarily the best platform for the blogging-type posts I typically write. I struggled keeping everything in random albums when I have had my website here showcasing the work of which I am so proud. Regarding blogging, I have been told about a bazillion times that I need to write down my stories and share them. I have an appropriate platform. I have my own platform.

My website started off as "RAlexPhoto.com" because I couldn't find the perfect domain. RileyCameron.com has been unavailable for the last ten years that I have had a website. I've looked every few months with just that little spark of hope that I'd find it, and it's always been unavailable...until now! I looked about a month ago and just decided to look again the other day. It was available! What perfect timing.

As my site has morphed, it has always stayed strictly for photography and graphic design, simply because of the site address. This is no longer the case. I now have RileyCameron.com because this site is simply my work, my life.

Feel free to share posts, photos, albums; all you need to do is copy the url. Also, please reach out if there is a topic you'd like me to write about. I look forward to being with you all again. If there are tutorial videos you have in mind, I may even be able to do some of those and post them here.

This has been a dream I thought would always have to stay in my head that is finally coming to fruition.

I'm back, and I'm sharing it all.

I’m Back: Sunny Side Up.

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve posted on here. In fact, it’s been over five years. My measly three posts from the start of this blog? That’s okay. Is anyone even reading these posts? I don’t know. That’s also okay. A few years ago, I quit posting so often on social media. I wanted to live my life out in the “real world.”

Somehow, I transformed into a hermit. My favorite activity became knitting because, as my life sped up so much, that was the best way for me to stop and slow down while still feeling productive. If I were knitting and being productive, I wouldn’t feel as guilty about sitting down and watching a movie. And you can bet your bippy my knitting goes to out to bars with me when we decide to venture out into the world.

I think I’m telling you how I became an old woman? We’ll save that for another time and another place.

I’ve decided to join the youngsters again. I’ve decided to live my best life. I’m not where I want to be yet, but I’m on my way. I went out with one of my friends to knit and have a brew, and I found myself telling her about the most humiliating day of teaching I ever had. Don’t worry, it will find its way here one day, but today is not that day. In time, dear one. Through her laughter, she said I need to write about these things. I couldn’t stop thinking how she was right.

What should be the topic of my next post? I’d certainly take input. If this blog is as lively as it’s been, it appears I’ll just continue to entertain myself.

So here I am. I’m back and sunny side up.

Own it.

There is a difference between confidence and arrogance. Own what you know.

El tiempo más importante es hoy. Es ahora.

Today is the most important time of our lives. What we do today, what we think about today, all of it. To me, the time wasted is the time we spend conforming to society rather than truly following what we can feel in our souls is what we need to do. Learn whenever you are able about whatever or whomever. Knowledge is priceless.

Opening our eyes and truly seeing is the best way to attempt to understand ourselves and the world we are living in. Don’t see the person next to you with the labels society teaches you to see, see them for who they are. Changing my mindset from looking at the world through the eyes of conformists to my own has opened more doors than I thought imaginable. By not taking the opinions of others as fact and truth has impacted me in ways I cannot accurately describe in words at this time in my life. Too many people cast away those who may not be the most graceful in their speech and hold those people in low regards from there on out without ever allowing the chance for redemption. Maybe that person didn’t make the best impressions in our few interactions; but rather than dismissing them as a a potential friend or acquaintance (and many dismiss others as people in general), have patience, and seek out their redeeming qualities. Maybe they are hurting and need to know they are not alone. Everybody hurts at times in their lives, and some face more trials than others. Make your presence positive. Maybe you’ll make a difference in their day. I am eternally grateful for those who chose to not give up on me.

I was dark. I was in pain for a very long time. There was a time when I hated the world and everyone and everything in it. I’m not saying every day is full of butterflies and rainbows for me now, but there is always something to take away from every interaction with every person or thing you encounter. It is a new experience from which I learn. Learning is everywhere, and it is up to each individual to utilize whatever knowledge is bequeathed upon them in order to better themselves and, in turn, the world we live in today.

Be courageous. Forgive, be understanding, and practice empathy.

Be the change you wish to see in the world.

This is how we begin?

I cannot guarantee anything on how often I will post. There may be some weeks I post multiple times, and there may be some times that I go several weeks without posting. I also cannot guarantee any topics that will or will not be posted about, so I can’t exactly give it a genre; but I titled this page Thoughts, Loves, and Inspirations of a Honey Badger because those are the only things I can guarantee. My thoughts, loves, and inspirations. Well, those and that I am declaring this page a no judgement zone. To express one’s opinions or thoughts honestly is an honorable thing to do, and it takes courage. If people choose to post their thoughts on posts and interact on this page, I will not tolerate the berating or belittling of anyone. It’s totally okay to agree to disagree. If there is a guilty party, they will be promptly removed because this isn’t the place for that. I can’t guarantee anything else because who knows what will trigger the next chapter in my mental notebook? If I write enough of these, I’m sure you’ll be able to figure out where the honey badger comes from. It will eventually make sense, I promise.

Until I see you again,

-Riley
